UA Local 136's geographical area has grown from 14 counties in 1900 to include 22 counties: 18 in Indiana and 4 in southeastern Illinois. Offices are located and maintained in Evansville and Bloomington, Indiana. Modern up-to-date training facilities are located at each site with the most current and innovative teaching techniques and equipment available.
Apprentices are trained in two separate programs, Residential and Light Commercial Plumbing and HVAC Apprenticeship along with the Building & Construction Trades Apprenticeship. Each program is registered with the U.S. Department of Labor's Bureau of Apprenticeship Training. UA Local 136's members are extensively trained to install and service piping on all sized projects, from massive steel, automotive, chemical and power plants, to a single dwelling house.
Extensive journeymen training classes are conducted year around, such as, Medical Gas Piping, Backflow Prevention, and various welding certifications, just to name a few. Regardless if it's organizing the non-union sector, training our journeymen and apprentices, registering our members to vote or performing various volunteer community projects throughout the year, UA Local 136 continues to lead the United Association into the new century.
