Services
Bulldog Plumbing was founded in 1992 by Jim Barlow in Stone Mountain, GA. as Jim's Bulldog Plumbing Co. Inc.
During the height of the class-action lawsuit against the manufacturers of polybutylene pipe, Jim's Bulldog Plumbing became one of the leading contractors in the state of Georgia that was hired to handle the replacement of this faulty pipe.
Literally tens of thousands of homes in the Atlanta area were served by Jim's Bulldog Plumbing, specifically by blue polybutylene yard service line replacements.

Water service line replacements and repairs: One of our primary services since our beginning is replacing blue polybutylene pipe from the water meter to the service entrance at the house.
We also replace older galvanized pipe (typically 25+ years), and occasionally PVC pipe and copper due to mature tree roots that have put stress on the water service pipe outside.
Whole house re-plumbs: Another one of our specialties is replacing faulty pipe inside the house.
The main problem we find is the grey polybutylene pipe from the shutoff valve all the way to each plumbing fixture.

Polybutylene was once thought to be revolutionary within the plumbing industry in the United States.
This specific form of plastic was implemented in high volume for plumbing pipes and fixtures from the mid 70's through the mid 90's.
These plumbing pipe systems were installed in millions of homes before Polybutylene Pipes were discovered to be highly defective.
The problem with Polybutylene pipes can be found in their high rate of failure in standard operating conditions.
The deterioration has been linked to chlorine additives added to the water to sanitize, but failures have been reported by customers with private water supplies as well.

Yesterday we replaced a waterline.
This particular job in Snellville was in a neighborhood where the houses were built in early 1980's.
This homeowner told me she was kind of like the "mayor" of her neighborhood (meaning that everyone comes to her to find good references for different services), and that she would certainly recommend our business to her neighbors if they ever had the need for their waterlines to be replaced.
We did a 260' waterline replacement in Walton County today.
This house had polybutylene from the meter to the house, and then had grey pb throughout the house.

In the case of a water pipe in your house bursting behind a wall or under the floor, you should immediately go to the shut-off valve to the main waterline in your house.
2. In the case of a water pipe in your yard bursting, your only option is to go to the water meter at the street to shut it off.
4. In the case of a leak in your toilet, lavatory, or kitchen sink, there is a small shut-off valve behind the toilet, or under the sinks, that you can turn clockwise to stop the leaking temporarily.
